One Time Medication Renewals
When might I require a one-time medication renewal?
Adhering to the prescribed doses of your medication at the designated times is crucial for maintaining overall health. Life circumstances, such as moving, traveling, relocating, or your doctor retiring, can introduce complexities. For ongoing prescriptions, Cohen Care offers the convenience of one-time medication renewals.
Can any prescription be renewed?
Cohen Care’s one-time medication renewal service allows you to refill a 30-day prescription twice a year and a 90-day prescription once a year. This applies to many commonly prescribed medications and can be utilized for multiple prescriptions as long as they adhere to our guidelines.
Common prescriptions include:
Birth control
Blood pressure medications
Cholesterol-lowering drugs
Diabetes medications
Insulin
What prescriptions might not be renewable?
Cohen Care providers may not have authorization to renew prescriptions for:
A daily medication not used in the last 45 days or more before your visit
A prescription from a provider you haven't seen in the past 15 months
A prescription with remaining refills
Narcotics or pain medications
Certain migraine or other episodic condition medications
How can a Cohen Care provider help me with a one-time medication renewal?
Your Cohen Care provider will conduct an evaluation, reviewing your medical history. To proceed, you will be asked to provide one of the following:
The pharmacy where your prescription was last filled
Contact information for your specialist or primary care provider
A prescription bottle for the medication requiring renewal
Your provider will then cross-check your requested prescription against our pre-approved medications. If the request aligns with the necessary criteria, your medication will be renewed.
At the end of your Cohan Care visit, you will receive educational materials and a visit summary. With your consent, a summary of your visit can also be sent to your primary care provider or specialist.
